eGuide

eGuide allows you to perform Directory searches for almost all users on Campus. You could use it to find e-mail addresses, phone numbers etc. It also allows you to update your demographic information in the GroupWise Address Book and you can change your Novell password.


1. Who is eligible to use eGuide?

All users that login to a Medicine or EPI Novell account. Anyone can use eGuide to perform searches, however, you must login to update GroupWise address book fields and change your Novell password. If you only have a GroupWise account, you must use the GroupWise client or GroupWise web-access to change your GroupWise password.

2. What is a Novell Account?
A Novell account is used to login to your computer and the Medicine network; it provides access to shared drives, applications, and the application launcher. Most users have a Novell and GroupWise account, however, some users only have a need for e-mail so they don't have a Novell account.

3. How do I get to eGuide?
Open eGuide in the Application Launcher or click here.

4.. How do I use eGuide to update my information in the GroupWise Address book?

a. Go to the eGuide web-site and click on the Login link at the top of the page. 
b. Enter your Novell username and password and press the login button. 
c. Click on the Edit Information link at the top of the page.
d. You may edit First Name, Last Name, Full Name, Title, Room number, Phone number, and Fax number.
e. Department, E-mail Address, Location, Password Expiration, and Grace Logins(number of logins remaining with your expired password) cannot be edited but are displayed for your convenience. 
f. Verify your information is correct and press the Save button. Your information will be updated in the GroupWise Address book and other campus e-mail Address books the next day.

  • If you wish to change your Department, e-mail address, or Location, please contact any member of the I/S team

  • If your Last Name has changed and you want your username and e-mail address modified to reflect this change, please contact any member of the I/S team.

5. How do I use eGuide to change my Novell password?

a. Go to the eGuide web-site and click on the Login link at the top of the page. 
b. Enter your Novell username and password and press the login button.
c. Click on the Edit Information link at the top of the page.
d. Click on the Change Password link, enter your new password twice, and select the change button.

  • The ability to see when your Novell password expires along with the ability to change your Novell password from a web-page is very useful for those people that rely on remote access to gain access to the shared server drives(H, I , J)

6. What do I do if eGuide doesn't accept my password?
You either forgot your Novell password or you were only given a GroupWise account. Contact your respective administrator or a member of the I/S team for assistance.

7. What if I want to update my Address book information and I only have a GroupWise account?
Send your updated changes to any member of the I/S team.
