GroupWise Proxy


GroupWise includes a feature called Proxy, used to grant to another GroupWise user part or full access to your account information. Proxy is also the primary way to access shared GroupWise resources such as a division calendars, a confrence room schedule, etc. Proxy is most commonly used when you want to allow someone else to view or edit your Calendar, but it can also be used to allow someone to check your mailbox.

There are two main steps to know for proxy access:

1. Granting the Proxy Access.

2. Accessing the Proxy.
 


Granting Proxy Access

  1. Open GroupWise on a Departmental computer using the GroupWise icon on your desktop or the GroupWise icon in your Application Launcher.

  2. Click Tools, Options, Security.

  3. Switch to the Proxy Access tab.



  4. Enter the name of the user who you wish to give proxy access to or select them from the address book, then click Add User.

  5. Once you have entered the user you must specify what kind of access to give the user.
    1. Most commonly you give a user Read and or Write access to your Appointments (Calendar).
    2. Access to your mail items is given through the Mail/Phone option.
    3. No NOT modify the <All User Access> option. This will open your account to everyone in GroupWise.



  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each user who needs proxy access.

  7. Press OK

 

Accessing a Proxy

  1. From the main GroupWise window Select Online and choose Proxy...



  2. Type the name of the account you have been given proxy access to.



  3. When you select OK you will be taken to the account you have been given access to.

  4. To return to your account Select Proxy, and choose your name.



  5. You will also notice that the account you just accessed is now displayed in the list for easy access, allowing you to skip step 2.
