GroupWise Remote Access |
Remote access to GroupWise is available using the GroupWise Client software (Windows, Macintosh, Linux), a web browser or a wireless PDA. All users must follow Campus IT policies when connecting to GroupWise from off campus. Please choose your preferred remote access method for more details. Wireless PDAAlmost any wireless PDA(iPhone is only supported with web-access through the Safari browser)can be integrated with your GroupWise account. E-mail, calendar, tasks and addressbooks can all be synced to your device wirelessly and seamlessly. Faculty members may contact Ed Heiger or Patrick Byerly or enter a Helpstar to get their device setup. Staff members must request permission from their respective administrator and should be prepared to provide a business justification. Please keep in mind however, if using this service with a cell phone or wireless PDA that your cellular carrier may asses certain charges. In particular, please be sure that you have an appropriate wireless data plan and text messaging plan from your cellular carrier. Wireless synchronization of email, calendar, and address book items for most users will use several MB of data per month. To avoid overage charges, we recommend subscribing to an unlimited data plan from your wireless carrier. In addition, if using the SMS-based "push" email feature, be aware that each "push" effectively sends a text message to your phone, and your carrier's normal text messaging rates apply. If you plan to make use of the "push" or text messaging features, you may wish to investigate an unlimited text messaging plan from your wireless carrier. BE ADVISED!
